Vinesh Phogat rose to fame professionally when she won the bronze medal at the 2013 Asian Wrestling Championship in Delhi. Phogat followed her bronze medal with a silver medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship of 2013.
Vinesh represented India in the 48 Kg freestyle wrestling category at the 2014 Commonwealth games Glasgow. She won the first Gold medal of her career in the tournament.
Vinesh phogat won the silver medal at the 2015 Asian Games and lost in the quarter-final of the 2016 Summer Olympics. She became the first Indian female wrestler to win Gold in Asian Games when she won the 2018 Asian Games.
Vinesh Phogat bagged her third consecutive gold in the women’s 53 kg category after winning the Poland Open wrestling tournament in Warsaw 2019. Vinesh Phogat bagged her first World Championship medal in the women’s 53 kg category by winning a Bronze medal in the 2019 World Wrestling Championship.
In January 2024, Phogat won gold in Rome Ranking Series.
