Kamalpreet Kaur Biography and Career

Kamalpreet Kaur was born on 4 March 1996 in Badal, a village in Sri Muktsar Sahib district of Punjab. Kaur began playing athletics professionally in 2012 and began her professional training in 2014 at the Sports Authority of India centre in her village.

Kamalpreet Kaur became the under 18 and 20 national champions in 2016 and finished sixth at the World University Games in 2017. She finished fifth at the Asian Athletics Championships 2019, which was held in Doha.

Kamalpreet Kaur is currently coached by Rakhi Tyagi and idolizes fellow Indian senior Athletes and discus throwers Seema Punia.

Kamalpreet Kaur Medals & Achievements

Kamalpreet Kaur bagged the silver medal at the 2019 Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship. She secured the medal after reaching a distance of 60.25 metres.

She became the first Indian woman to clear the 65 m barrier in a discus throw event when she won the gold medal at the 24th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship held in Patiala. Her glorious performance at the championship sealed her qualification for the Tokyo Summer Olympics 2024.

Kamlpreet Kaur is currently in action as she represents India at Tokyo Olympics. She threw discus for 64 metres and finished the round in second place. Kamalpreet will contest in the final of the discus throw event of the Tokyo Olympics, which is scheduled to be held on 2 August.
